One Direction: We won’t change the band name.

Harry Styles and Zayn Malik have revealed that they won't be changing the name of their band even though they are being sued by a little-known US group also called One Direction.

While One Direction is busy taking over the world, there legal team is handling the battle at hand. Apparently there’s also group in the US also called One Direction. The band from California claims that they have been using the name since 2009, a year before Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson got together on X Factor. 

Zayn Malik and Harry Styles have told reporters that they are not going to adopt a new name (good news for all those fans on Twitter who have One Direction somewhere in their screen name).

Zayn told Herald Sun in Australia: 'We don’t know [what will happen] but we’re not changing our name.'The US One Direction are demanding £630,000 for alleged copyright breaches from Simon Cowell and their UK rivals. But ever since launching the lawsuit, the American act have been bombarded with hate mail from British Directioners.

Frontman Sean O’Leary, 18, said his father, Dan, who manages the soft rock group has been targeted the worst. He said: 'There has been so much hate mail, like people threatening to cut our b***s off. 'The one that stands out for me is a girl saying she wanted to kill my father.'  Dan added that they were determined to stand up against Cowell.  'I don't care how powerful Simon Cowell is. He's mad if he thinks we're going to lie down, sit down or back down over this - whatever power and money he has behind him,' he said.  c'The British One Direction have Mr Cowell's enormous resources behind them. We on the other hand do not. In our view, we were here first. We have rights, we have talent, and we have heart.'
