About Me: Rivermaya Kicks off 2008 with “Buhay” Album It’s been a roller-coaster ride for Rivermaya in 2007 – as “ang banda ng bayan” rounded off the year with its own tv show, performed in Araneta Coliseum with Vertical Horizon and guested in the region’s first “Asian Idol” in Jakarta, Indonesia. This January, Rivermaya jump-starts 2008 with a bang, with their first full-length studio album in five years, entitled “Buhay”. “Buhay” is released by Warner Music Philippines and will be in stores in Metro Manila during the week of January 18th, with the rest of the country following suit quickly afterwards. “Buhay” spotlights two intriguing must-listen’s – the songwriting skills of Mark Escueta, Mike Elgar and Japs Sergio as well as the vocals of brand-new, 18 year old member Jayson Fernandez (who was plucked out of a field of 500 hopefuls to become the newest brother in the Rivermaya family.) . Jayson joins Mark, Mike, and Japs in delivering compelling vocals to a fresh Rivermaya sound. The album features 16 tracks, 5 of them in Filipino. First single out of the gate is “Sugal ng Kapalaran”, written by Japs Sergio, and featuring the vocals of both Jayson Fernandez and Sergio. "It's about free will," says Japs, "and having to live with the decisions, big or small, that we make in our everyday life."
