New technologies open newer possibilities, limited only by what we cannot conceive. Enter sound: something new, yet distinctly familiar. The name connotes an open mind, sophistication, and ambition. They boast an endless list of influences across a variety of genres whose colors find their way into the sonic palette. Guided by a cool head for business, the work is as fevered and passionate as a band enjoying full creative control: practical, but radical. Independent, yet pop. The sound of sound is about, quite simply, city life. In its purest and most unadulterated, it is inspired by, married with, and dedicated to this colorful city in which we live. From their firstborn, independently presented to the world in 2003 under the name BossaManila, which became regarded as a good example of a band proving that independent releases could hold their own alongside the major players in the industry, to their most recent 2006 offering Blue Monsoon, the band’s wide range of metropolitan lyrical themes, musical styles and emotions tell the story of its evolution along with the city that arouses it, and the songs reflect what it’s like and how it feels to live in a city so full of drama and history, at the same time painting a picture of urban life in the third world that many will be able to relate to no matter where in the world they are from. sound Music Sound have made a name for themselves thanks to solid, incendiary live performances and the Manila-themed original music they play, influenced by a mix ranging from the Beatles to Corduroy, Jamiroquai to Stevie Wonder, from Steely Dan to Jazzanova, all flavored with a sincere love for Original Pilipino Music. Their set features a lush array of originals and interpretations – from Corduroy's January Woman to Gil Scott-Heron's Lady Day and John Coltrane to the Pinball Theme from Sesame Street. sound Music Catalogue 2003 bossaManila – 1st original full-length album, released independently. 12 original tracks. 2006 Kami nAPO Muna – compilation, released by Universal Records.
