About Me:

Along with the march of December 2005 came in the band CIRCA. From a Sketch of desire to create music circling around heavy riffs with a melodic approach to finally play their hearts out, pushed Rey Olarte (drummer) and Sam Salantes (guitars) to set-off into a new band. The band name followed shortly. After a couple of choices from a list of names, the two picked a name that is short and easy to remember; Simple yet catchy. Thus the birth of CIRCA.
Taking one step further is the addition of a newly acquainted guitarist JC Ascuncion who was then playing guitar with Ginoong Vitalis and Dox Plata also from a different band. JC fill in the other guitar and Dox hold bass. Completing the line up is EM Tolentino who lead on the list of those auditioned for the vocal parts. They then jammed raw compositions forming the quintet. Together, they bring into harmony heart-captivating originals, experimental sounds, and intense feelings, while incorporating different music influences (Paramore, Urbandub, Saosin, Up dharma down, Anberlin, Last Winter, Bullet for my valentine, Elektric koolaid, Foo Fighters etc.) but trying to put a mark of individuality to creating their own kind of music.
The Band aspires to reach its audience through its emotionally driven songs such as "Muli", "Iniwan sa dilim", "Habang buhay", and "Huling Pag-ibig". Songs which speak of angst, sadness, coping up, faith, hope, love and being alive. The time of being together, bettering their music and honing their crafts brought them to getting regular gigs at Center for Arts, Mayrics, 6 Underground, Purple Haze, Penguin Bar (Feminine Force) and other production outfit events. The band also did provincial gigs (San Mariano, Isabela and Lucena City Quezon) and various radio guestings (89.9 Bandwagon, 99.5 RT Sunday Sessions.) As of the moment they are planning to record the other songs which they are now playing, eyeing to release an independent EP and hopefully landing a deal from a major record label.
