Young JV, very raw, very young, and believes in a very in-your-face attitude as far as his music is concerned. Young JV started holding the microphone and played with it when he was just 2 years old. At the age of 8, he was already entertaining house guests during family gatherings - singing and dancing, truly a delight to the clan. And then, the big day came, he was 16, a scruffy teen-ager with high school friends and classmates. He was swayed to do an impromptu rap beat………..and BAAAAAM!!!! The rest of course is history! Young JV, slowly and surely making his presence felt with his ass kickin’ beats and lyrical hooks influenced by his father’s tales of war, love and peace. His debut album, READY or NOT, released thru PolyEast Records, empowers Young JV to be more than just a soldier’s son (youngest son of retired Col. Red Kapunan Jr. (PAF) and Elsa Arancillo), as he translates these feats into a wonderful musical opus. Artist’s Statement YoungJV shares: “I was born and raised as a soldier’s son, moved by my father’s war stories when he was a combat pilot in Mindanao and when he took part in the EDSA One people power revolution that brought back our democratic institutions after years of martial rule. These stories of conflict not only made my father stand tall but brought me closer to the sad situation of our Muslim brothers in Mindanao and countless women and children war victims. The learnings about the pains of war stirred in me a real yearning and a true calling to be an artist-soldier fighting for peace and love in our troubled world of today.” Musical Influences Inspired with the musical styles of artists’ Chris Brown, Li’l Wayne and Bow Wow, yet, he is able to transform himself into a whole new being. Young JV is very much his own person, assumes his own style, a whole new individual rappin’ to his soul’s delight. YoungJV believes that it’s about time everybody knows that we, Pinoys, can do it, that it is time for Pinoys to move on and move forward, and that it’s about time to unite, for Filipinos to take flight. Ready or Not – The Album His debut album READY or NOT, boasts of 15 totally whack tracks that credit Young JV’s songwriting skills for cranking out a handful of easy to remember hits that cover the bases, from upbeat and carefree numbers that target both the high end and mass-based radio listeners. Young JV pushes it to the limit with his series of music videos played in the different music channels showcasing a new breed of hip-hop and r&b artist taking his Pinoy audience to a different level —the album kicks off as Young JV brings energy with the single THAT GIRL, currently hitting the airwaves, with a music video that premiered on MYX and picking up almost 30,000 views every week on YouTube.com. A Repackaged Limited Edition Ready or Not CD for Christmas!!! With the coming of the Christmas Season, Young JV with Doin’ It Big Productions and Polyeast Records is coming up with a repackaged Ready or Not Album with two of his hottest music videos, “Don’t Know You” and “Back at Home,” that conveys a very positive message for the kids of today, that the Philippines and the “new” Filipinos can do so much, and be so much more, all they have to do is believe in themselves. Young JV’s Dream Young JV thinks that his album bears no meaning if it were not dedicated and shared to those who have given so much for Peace in our country – our Soldiers. Soldiers who are fighting and have fought in Mindanao, and have offered their lives s we may live in a tranquil and caring society. Hence, through the “Lahing Bayani Foundation”, which Young JV has co-founded with his friends and family, he wishes to reach out and offer what little service he can provide and support for the education of soldiers’ orphans and other projects and charities. With this in mind, Young JV reaches out to the orphans of soldiers who died in the war in Mindanao by awarding scholarship grants taken from sponsorships and sales proceeds of his READY or NOT album. Young JV sees that there is too much hate in this game and he’s trying to break that with his music – truly very young and very promising, such a showcase of lyrical excellence and social consciousness. Where to get the Ready or Not Album To get more of YoungJV’s swagger, stellar beats, and undeniable hooks—READY OR NOT the album is now available in all record stores nationwide distributed by PolyEast Records and produced by DOIN’ IT BIG Productions. Young JV wants you to be part of his dream. Every time you purchase the Ready or Not Album, you are automatically contributing to the ducation of soldiers’ orphans and other charities, as well as the Clean & Green project that has been recently launched on the onset of Typhoon Ondoy. Upcoming Events Catch Youg JV in a series of mall shows and campus tours all over Manila and the nearby provinces, schools and universities. We will be announcing the venues very soon!!!!
