syalaM was formed in January 2006 as a project band for most of its band members who came up with the idea of fusing all their individual influences with a touch of local music, sounds & genre. syalaM is Malays spelled backwards, the origin of most Asians, particularly Filipinos. The Music is a fusion of reggae, blues, funk, world music and jazz. It's a musical trip that breaks all age, race, and music barriers... it does not discriminate.. the way music is meant to be. So dance, chill out, listen, be aware and enjoy.
After 2 years of countless gigs, song writing, debating, money borrowing and dreaming, syalaM's debut album, Tayo, is finally out! The CD contains 10 orginal compositions by the band and the songs are like no other that you can hear on the market today. The songs are the ingredients of 1 part reggae, 1 cup of chill, 1 glass of blues, 1 bowl of psychedelic euphoria and a full shot of soul. syalaM released their debut Single “CONGRESSMAN” along with its music video, which startled many of their listeners with its blatant humor and rapid climb to #1 on NU107’s Stairway to Seven daily countdown.
